We just completed a 3.5 day sail from the Abacos, Bahamas, to Beufort, NC. It is 6:22am, the sun rose just after we dropped anchor, the crew is tired, but all is well.

We had a fast, wet ride from Current Cut to Lynyard Cay, across the Northwest Channel. Winds started out at 10kts, but by the time we were in open watrer, they increased over 15, then up to 21kts, before seting down to 17-18 for most of the rest of the ride. THe waves built, and we were taking 6-8 footers o the starboard, just ahead of the beam. This gave us our first full-blown cockpit-soaker, a bit wave over the bow that drenched us back at the helm. Guess we got baptised!

So now we are in the Abacos, proected water, and enjoyed an odd but enjoyable meal oof sourkraut, sausage and beets put together by Chef Gretchen. We are anchored now at Lynyard Cay, try the Position report to see where!

On our way to the Abacos!

We left Governor’s Harbour at 6:30am today, and made the sort, 35 miles sail to Current Cut. This is a narrow passage with currents that can reach 12 knots at times. We passed near high tide, maybe an hour before, and the worst was maybe 3 knots at the narrowest place. The approach was a bit nerve racking, however, as we had to come in from the southwest, close to a rocky shoreline and hug it until we made it out into the cut, and then turn into the flow. We are now anchored a bit east of the other side, in with good protection and hopefully a good place to sleep before making our way across the Northeast passage (Atlantic Ocean) for about 50 miles to the Abacos.
